Carworx Ltd - Electronic Diagnostics
On-board diagnostics (OBD) is an automotive term referring to a vehicle's self-diagnostic and reporting capability. OBD systems give the vehicle owner or repair technician access to the status of the various vehicle subsystems.
The amount of diagnostic information available via OBD has varied widely since its introduction in the early 1980s versions of on-board vehicle computers. Early versions of OBD would simply illuminate a malfunction indicator light or "idiot light" if a problem was detected but would not provide any information as to the nature of the problem.
Modern OBD implementations use a standardized digital communications port to provide real-time data in addition to a standardized series of diagnostic trouble codes, or DTCs, which allow one to rapidly identify and remedy malfunctions within the vehicle. All vehicles from 1988 are required to have an on-board diagnostic system, which is compatible to various world standards , and easily readable through diagnostic devices like computer or specialised OBD Devices. Data past and current is stored in ECU'S, TCM'S AND PCM'S (these are various on-board computers that make sure your vehicle is communicating with ll its integrated systems.)
The three major automotive industries are European, American and Asian and follow certain protocols and standards for the data .The data on board helps us to diagnose the problem with your vehicle as well as it shows you via the lights on your dashboard that the vehicle needs help/service.
We provide this as a standalone service as well. The price indicated is for the diagnostic reporting only and not for any work carried out to rectify any of the problems shown on the report. That will be charged seperately.Pricing varies from different vehicle models from small to big vehicles and from European to Asian models.
